As Digital Community Manager, Kindred leads operations for Vera’s social media accounts. He helps develop and inform communications and digital media strategies around new Vera reports and news items, advises staff on social media best practices, compiles analytics to assess online engagement growth, and logs key metrics to inform future digital projects. He also manages the social media accounts for the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation’s Safety and Justice Challenge initiative. Prior to joining Vera as digital community manager, he developed and launched campaigns and strategic communications related to human rights for the Control Arms Secretariat, working with member organizations Oxfam and Amnesty International at the United Nations to coordinate global media outreach. He also worked with the Southern Poverty Law Center to develop and execute new social media and communications strategies, creating and managing the center’s first Spanish-language social media channel. He holds a BA in English from Birmingham-Southern College and an MA in international relations with honors from the University of Essex in England.
